RECA's Objectives

Print this page

RECA’s primary mission is to support and urge all states all states and local jurisdictions to adopt and implement the most recent International Energy Conservation Code, without substantive local weakening amendments.

RECA Members believe that:

A single nationwide building energy efficiency code is in the best interest of building and homeowners, operators and builders, manufacturers, and the general public welfare. The IECC® is endorsed by the United States Department of Energy and its most recent version is the most up-to-date model energy efficiency code for buildings across the nation. The IECC establishes reasonable energy efficient minimum construction requirements for all buildings. The most recent version is the 2006 IECC®.

RECA' primary mission is to support and urge all states and local jurisdictions to adopt and implement the most recent version of the IECC®, without substantive weakening amendments.

While adoption of an earlier version of the IECC®, or the IRC energy chapter (for residential buildings), or the most recent version of ASHRAE 90.1 (for commercial buildings) is much better than no energy code at all, RECA strongly recommends that all jurisdictions adopt or upgrade to the most recent IECC®, without substantive local weakening amendments.
